My world changed on August 27, 2006. That is the day that my beautiful daughter Kaitlyn died at the age of 16. My new normal began that day......

Somedays are better than others
This morning I woke up and thought to myself -- OK this is going to be a good day I can feel it. I am not fooling myself -- I know just about anything can send my over the edge -- but so far it has been a good day (good being relative to my new normal).

Take those days, hours or even minutes!
I remember one time shortly after Geoffrey died that I laughed - you know, one of those "good laughes". One of those laughes that makes your side hurt. Only to find myself thinking "I'm not suppose to be happy!"
It's ok to have good days. It's also ok to have a bad day.
I remember a therapist telling me a story once. "How do you now what darkness is...unless you know what light is. How do you know what outside is without knowing what is inside. How do you know the front side of a door without knowing the back side. Just the same with sadness."
You and I have experienced true sadness. A broken heart. But I'm sure you can look back now and remember some really, really happy times with Kaitlyn.
Those sad moments will be there - but when you feel good, and know it's going to be a good day - take it and RUN girlfriend!
